PERU: Tuna vessels with a foreign flag must deliver at least 30%

of the catch or carrying capacity of the vessel during the term of their fishing permit and renewals within the year.

This maximum period of compliance with the obligation is counted from the entry into force of the fishing permit or the date of commencement of its renewal (s).

The measure has been arranged by Supreme Decree No. 017-2019-PRODUCE, published in the official newspaper El Peruano, which modifies the tuna fishing regulations.

The decree adds that the delivery of the tuna resource will be made by mutual agreement between the owner of the tuna fishing vessel with a foreign flag and the natural and / or legal persons domiciled in the country.

The General Directorate of Supervision, Supervision and Sanction of the Vice Ministerial Office of Fisheries and Aquaculture will verify compliance with the delivery.

The decree is signed by the President of the Republic, Martín Vizcarra, and the Minister of Production, Rocío Barrios.
